I recently unlocked a new skill for use with 3D printing. This part, made from silicone, cost over $300 from the OEM. I reverse engineered it and figured out how they manufactured it, and designed my own mold in Autodesk Inventor. I made the mold out of three parts that fit together with guide pins. I 3D printed the mold parts on my work provided BambuLabs P1P. I ended up buying some two part silicone for mold making on Amazon and poured it into my 3D printed molds after spraying a release agent. The mold came apart pretty easily after prying apart and the part only requires minimal trimming with an exacto knife. I plan on making many more of these with this mold. submitted by /u/raptor464 |
